Leisure and the quality of life (1977)

the report of a central steering group of officials on four local experiments, research papers, volume 2

Auteur(s): N.H. Perry

Four local experiments in the development of leisure activities – the Leisure Experiments – were set up in late 1973 under the sponsorship of 4 Governement Departments (Department of the Environment, Department of Education and Science, Welsh Office and Scottish Education Department) in association with the Arts Council of Great Britain (including the Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils) and the Sports Councils. The Experiments were undertaken in Stoke-on-Trent, Sunderland, Clwyd (Deeside) and Dumbarton in partnership with the local authorities and local sports and arts organisations. The Leisure Experiments were part of a series of action research projects sponsored by the Government and intended broadly to improve the quality of urban life. The purpose of the Experiments was to institute and study in 4 different urban areas locally led campaigns to develop and increase a full range of leisure activities – cultural, recreational and sporting. This publication is volume 2.
