This study explored the facilitators and barriers of sports participation of children and adolescents with Cerebral Palsy (CP) from the perspective of the children, their parents, their sports instructor and their health professionals. In total 21 participants were interviewed. Categories were made based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. The statements were labeled and categorized. Afterwards the facilitators and barriers were explored. The most important category of the stimulating factors was Environment. Subsections such as Parents, Peers, Sports instructor and Sports facilities played a role. The mentioned factors are for instance: Incentive from parents, expertise of the sports instructor and enough sports facilities. The most important categories of the limiting factors were Environment and Personal. These included for example: Little enthusiasm from the sports instructor and parents have no time and transport. Furthermore the category Personal contained factors as no motivation and shame. According to children and adolescents with CP, their parents, teachers and health professionals mainly environmental factors should be optimized for participation in sports of children and adolescents with CP. Parent and Child mentioned in particular factors from a social point of view, while Sports Instructor and Health Professional mentioned factors from a practical point of view.
