This report comprises five chapters. The first chapter is a statement of Australia’s information needs in the field of sport, recreation and leisure. In this chapter the diverse nature and extent of these needs have been identified. The second chapter contains a discussion of a survey of existing resources in Australia. The third chapter deals with the evaluation of 21 foreign and Australian data bases for their coverage of material on sport, recreation and leisure. These data bases in this field, were specially evaluated for their coverage of Australian material. The fourth chapter is an evaluation of a proposal called, AUSIRC (Australian Sport Information Resource Centre), which has been before SCOR for its consideration towards funding.
