Leisure (1984)

toward a theory and policy

Auteur(s): Hillel Ruskin

The importance of leisure has increased in Israel as well as in many other advanced societies throughout the world. The entry of Israel into a civilization of leisure requires special attention on the part of the government to make free time a life-enriching experience. With present-day pressures, free time may be a vital refuge in which the people can find happiness through worthwhile experiences. To this end, the International Seminar on Leisure Policies was organized, and the following recommendations for leisure policies that came as a result of it are offered. It is the hope of the participants of the seminar and members of the Israel Leisure and Recreation Association that these recommendations will trigger the implementation of a leisure policy for the State of Israel.
